Greenhouse Church, a Florida-based, multi-campus Christian church, worked with the Taproot Agency to redesign their website. The previous site, according to the church’s staff, didn’t quite capture the voice or personality of the organization and wasn’t built to scale with the church’s expected growth throughout the state of Florida.

Overview

A digital footprint to support building lasting relationships and growing disciples.

Following a rebranding effort in 2020 and recent strategic planning, Greenhouse Church was well positioned for a new website to represent their next steps into future growth and outreach.

Greenhouse’s relationship with existing and potential members, staff members and discipleship leaders is at the forefront of this approach, all working together towards a stronger personal relationship with God.

The new website will encourage and sustain these relationships by providing clear, actionable ways to engage with the Greenhouse community.

Challenges

Clumsy navigation | Confusing live mode | Meeting strategic goals

Challenges

Clumsy navigation

The previous Greenhouse Church website suffered from clumsy navigation, making for a frustrating experience for visitors who were not able to easily find the pages and content that most interested them. Taproot worked with the church to both revise the tone of the content as well as overhaul and simplify the navigation while leveraging insights from Google Analytics to prioritize high-traffic pages.

Confusing live mode

Greenhouse Church live streams multiple services per week via their website. The previous design was confusing to users as to when the live services were actually occurring. Multiple, conflicting calls-to-action and visual indicators contributed to this conflict of information.

Meeting strategic goals

As part of their strategic planning prior to the website redesign, Greenhouse Church identified one of its key goals: plant microchurches in all 67 Florida counties. While the previous website did include information and links to existing campuses and microchurches, it fell short of clearly informing visitors that these microchurches were part of the Greenhouse family, nor did the site clearly convey the church’s strategic goals for growth.

Streamlined structure & branding | Live mode activated | Aligned strategic goals

Solutions

Streamlined structure & branding

As part of the redesigned website, Taproot was able to not only streamline the complex navigation, but also align the visual aesthetic and content with the updated Greenhouse Church brand and messaging. Users are now able to quickly find commonly accessed pages, while other additional information is housed in a restructured navigation drawer. Regardless of where users land on the site, they experience a cohesive visual presentation that highlights branded elements within custom blocks.

Live mode activated

The newly designed live mode provides a visually engaging shift on the homepage that appears only during live services, which makes for a dynamic interface that changes based on the presented content. This addition, paired with streamlined calls to action and background teaser videos, increases visitor engagement and rewards return visits.

Aligned strategic goals

Greenhouse Church’s strategic vision for growing locations throughout the state of Florida was reflected in both the content and the structure of the redesigned site. Main location pages were streamlined to reflect the overarching brand, while maintaining their individuality and ability to be updated specific to that local audience. Similarly, various areas and ministries are highlighted to bring more focus to the various ways in which the Greenhouse Church body is impacting communities in the state of Florida and around the world.
